Nepal Bank Limited

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nepal Bank Limited is the oldest commercial bank of Nepal. It was established 1937 which marked the beginning of an era of formal banking in Nepal. The Bank is also one of the largest in Nepal with 109 branches in the 55 districts of the country.

Despite being the oldest and one of the largest banks of Nepal, the bank suffered massive difficulty in terms of unpaid loan and felling profits. Thus the Bank was put under the control of Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal which hired services of Bank of Scotland (Ireland), ICC Consulting from 2002 for the management of the bank for an initial period of 2 years. The period was extended and the bank is still managed by the above companies.
