Description

The tourist district of Thamel is a warren of busy, narrow streets. Shops spill out to compete for space with hawkers, touts and bicycle rickshaws. It is a bustle of signs and cries and horns, but there are plenty of cafes and rooftops to calm one's nerves and as a popular traveller's destination, you are never far from a German bakery, restaurant serving pizza or a CD shop blaring popular tunes. My favorite was the live music scene and a cup of Nepali masala chai on a rooftop or courtyard patio.
