This seems an odd issue to get into a disagreement about.

Neo's grammar explicitly resembles that of Esperanto or Ido in the sense that it uses vowels endings to mark parts of speech and (A-E-O = adjective-adverb-noun) and verb tenses (AR-IR-OR-US = present-past-future-conditional, a minor variation on Ido/Esp. AS-IS-OS-US). These clearly come from Esperanto and/or Ido, since they are an invention of Zamenhof's. On the other hand, it's impossible to say whether Esp. or Ido is the source these features, since Alfandari unquestionably knew both languages. Certainly Esperanto is the ultimate source, whether or not they mediated by Ido. On the other hand I don't see any Occidental influence that can't be explained as a general reliance on general European language conventions.

As for Interlingua influence, there are some minor and probably chance resemblences with some pronouns. The plural -S is just standard European. The prepositions don't seem like Interlingua at all, more like Ido, I'd say - though I don't know Ido well.

If I'm missing something here, please point it out to me.CJGB (Chris) 03:22, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
