Talk:Neo-Burlesque

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I agree - as the author of Burlesque and the New Bump-n-Grind, I would argue that Neo-burlesque and New Burlesque are two names for the same subject. -67.162.134.75 00:53, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Definitely, the two are one and the same. -24.193.162.128 14:48, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Quoth the Raven, "Duh."

--No question about it; it's just a matter of finding someone with the time do do it. (I've edited many pages, but am not sure how to do a merge.) I'll look into it. Incidentally, we need to remember what Wikpedia standards are for Notability. Many/most of the performers listed on this page do not meet this requirement, which is (in part) "has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject of each other." • Support - I support the merger, since as other users have noted that it is the same topic, different slang for the subject matter. -Signaleer 13:14, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

If some third-party (read: not a Burlesque performer or producer) has the time to review the page for Notability, that would be great -- the article loses substance when the "Notable Performers" is a laundry list of everyone who knows how to use Wikipedia.

[edit] Typo?

In the striptease section, should it be 'panties' they strip down to, rather than 'pasties'? My first thought was that it was a typo, but the last burlesque performer I saw did something rather interesting with a cream cake, so maybe it's meant to be that. I just checked and there is an article about it, so its not a typo. I added a link to clarify.--CoJaBo 01:10, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

No, it's no typo... "pasties" are the decorative swatches that cover a burlesque performer's nipples and areolas. They were jettisoned back into the radar of popular culture when rapper Lil' Kim decided to don one as a part of her outfit for the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards. 129.119.187.242 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 03:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
