Neopaganism in Mexico

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wicca and other neopagan traditions exist in Mexico. The "Comunidad Pagana de Mexico" (Pagan Community of Mexico) holds an annual Beltane festival every year called the "Encuentro National Wicca" (National Wiccan Encounter)

Germanic neopagan communities such as 'Odinismo', named after the chief Norse god Odin, also exist. The main Odinist community is called the "Hermandad Odinista del Sagrado Fuego" (Odinist Brotherhood of the Sacred Fire).

Neopaganism arrived to Mexico, like many other New Age beliefs, via the Internet. The popularity and influence of books and movies such as the Harry Potter series has been cited as a conduit leading people to explore magical traditions as well[1].

However, because of climate differences and indigenous influences, Mexican neopaganism has developed differently.
