[edit] Nicholai Ginovaef

Main article: Nicholai Ginovaef

Sgt. Nicholai Ginovaef (voiced by Roger Honeywell) is a member of the U.B.C.S. Delta Platoon, Company B. He meets Jill as one of the few surviving operatives from the Delta Platoon, along with Carlos and Mikhail. He is in fact one of the "supervisors", U.B.C.S. operatives assigned to watch and gather combat data as their comrades fight against Umbrella's bio-weapons. Nicholai's ultimate fate varies depending on which route the player takes. He can be killed by the Nemesis, killed by the player, or escape successfully.

The character was adapted for the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse (in which he was played by Zack Ward), although the film features a more heroic depiction of Nicholai, which differs greatly from the game's original antagonistic portrayal. The film's official novelization renamed him Nicholai Sokolov.

[edit] Mikhail Victor

Lt. Mikhail Victor (voiced by Ben Campbell) is the leader of the U.B.C.S. Delta Platoon that both, Nicholai and Carlos, are part of. According to his backstory, Mikhail is from Saint Petersburg, Russia. He originally served the Red Army before joining his wife's guerilla force and participating in race liberation wars in neighboring countries until he was eventually arrested by the Russian Army and convicted of acts of terrorism. He was then coerced into leading the U.B.C.S. in exchange for his men's freedom.[1] In the game, he first appears already wounded inside the city's cable car. Despite his serious injuries, he refuses to rest, as evident in an optional cut scene in which he gets out of the cable car to fight a few zombies. Ultimately, he chose to sacrifice his own life to save Jill and Carlos. He dies in the game when he is blown apart by his own grenade in a failed attempt to destroy the Nemesis. In the novelization by S.D. Perry, Mikhail's injury was due to being shot by Nicholai.

In an early draft of the story, Mikhail was originally scripted to be Nicholai's older brother (hence, his original name was Mikhail Ginovaef).[1] Mikhail's heroic and selfless attitude serves as a contrast to Nicholai's greediness and cold behaviour.

He is the only one of the main U.B.C.S. operatives not to appear in the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse, being replaced by an original character named Yuri Loginova.

[edit] Tyrell Patrick

Tyrell Patrick (voiced by Peter Windrem) is a UBCS operative belonging to Bravo Platoon, Company A. Like Nicholai, he is one of the 'supervisors' assigned by Umbrella to gather battle data for bio-weapons' performance. According to his backstory, he is originally from Suriname and served the French Foreign Legion, before he was apprehended by military authorities in the Netherlands for selling arms in the black market.[1] As Carlos, the player will encounter Tyrell in one of two different locations in Raccoon Hospital and his death is played out differently each scene. If the player meets Tyrell in the basement of the hospital, he dies trying to open a safe boobytrapped with explosives. However, if the player chose to explore the second floor first, Carlos will encounter Nicholai cornering a wounded Tyrell. Tyrell blows himself up with a grenade, but Nicholai escapes by jumping through the window. In Nemesis, S.D. Perry's novelization of the game, Tyrell is renamed Ken Franklin and dies blowing himself up trying to kill Nicholai.

[edit] Murphy Seeker

Murphy Seeker (voiced by Richard Clarkin) is a member of the UBCS Alpha Platoon, Company A. According to his backstory, before being forced to join the UBCS, Murphy was formerly a USMC sniper who was later convicted of killing members of a street gang said to be responsible for the death of his brother.[1] The player encounters an injured Murphy in the Umbrella's sales office and the way his death is played out changes depending on how the player handled their previous battle with Nemesis. In one version of the scene, succumbing to the T-Virus, Murphy urges Carlos to kill him, in which Carlos reluctantly complies. In another version, Nicholai shoots him, even though he can be heard pleading for his life. Murphy is absent from S.D. Perry's novelization, instead replaced by an original character named Randy Thomas.

[edit] Dario Rosso

Dario Rosso (voiced by Tony Rosato) is a Raccoon City citizen whom Jill encounters in a warehouse at the very beginning of the game. Having lost his daughter (Lucia) during the zombie outbreak, he locks himself in a container, refusing Jill's offer to aid him and stating that he would rather die from starvation then face the monsters. Later, in the game, when Jill returns she finds he has died trying to escape from the warehouse, ironically being eaten by zombies. Searching the container he originally hid in will yield his diary, in which he describes his aspirations to become a writer. This diary is featured in the Nintendo 64 version of Resident Evil 2 as an "EX File". Both Dario and his daughter Lucia appears as hostages to be rescued in the "Operation: Mad Jackal" minigame. Dario's name (with his last name is misspelled Losso) also appears on the Apple Inn's guest list in Resident Evil: Outbreak.
