Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles, as you did to Myst. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. ~QuasiAbstract (talk/contrib) 18:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, this is Michael Nelson, I have been wondering why my link, where the actual information of the Myst Motion Picture Production is located. My link was removed and replaced with a fan site user blog that has no actual information regarding the Myst movie since this project has now become a "hollywood production". Please contact me back explaining to me why this occurred. You said that Wikipedia was not to be used as a 'sandbox', but the user group web site is using Wiki for exactly that. Thank You, Producer Michael Nelson

I tried googling "Nelson Motion Picture Studios" and got one result: this page. This seems to indicate to me that this is not a professional production, but rather, a one-person garage effort, so to speak. And what do you mean when you say "the user group web site" is using Wikipedia as a sandbox? Veinor (talk to me) 14:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Nelson Motion Picture Studios

A tag has been placed on Nelson Motion Picture Studios requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ninety:one 13:52, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding the Company and Myst Movie Project

The web site that my link was replaced with is a fan site, NOT an actual motion picture studios. They have been begging Cyan for the copyrights for the Myst games and books for a while now and turned down. I however have been in contact with Cyan and we are now disscussing a deal with them to buy the copyrights to the idea to turn it into a movie. The reason why our web page hasn't been placed on google yet is because we just made our web site and we are working out the bugs out of them. We mean no harm to Wikipedia or any other company involved. We just request that Wiki keeps our posts about the Myst project on their site. We should have our website on google within this week. Please contact me back. Thank you, Michael Nelson

Wikipedia is not a crystal ball; we don't store information on future events unless multiple reliable sources can be produced regarding those future events. I haven't found any sources at all, let alone any reliable sources, about this movie. Veinor (talk to me) 14:56, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

If what you say is true about finding reliable sources about a Myst movie project, why are you allowing the Myst movie production journal website be placed as a source for this movie if no known sources can be provided?

The fact of the matter is that I do have reliable sources about this movie project being initiated. And this movie is under production, deals are being made through us to Cyan for the copyrights to the idea. We only ask Wikipedia to allow us to be added to the Movie section for Myst along with the other people.

The difference is that there is at least one source for the Mysteria film: the link provided on the article. Whereas there are no sources for even the existence of Nelson Motion Picture Studios. And could you please provide those reliable sources? Veinor (talk to me) 15:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nelson Motion Picture Studios teaming up with Mysteriac

We have recently teamed up, so it is your decision now to add us back on the Myst movie page.

Again, you have yet to provide any evidence whatsoever besides your bare assertions. As an aside, you don't have to start a new section for every reply, and it kind of annoys people (or at least me). Veinor (talk to me) 17:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Let me put it into different words for you, maybe that will help. Firstly, I'm a HUGE Myst fan, so as far as I'm personally concerned, this is the greatest news since the first game was made --- but, until you get actual recognition for this project/film in, say, a notable magazine, or just general "buzz" in several sources across the internet, Wikipedia just isn't the place for you yet. It's just all too vague and insubstantial at this stage. I mean, I can't even find anything about you over on IMDB.com! Hope this helps clarify. TheWizardOfAhz (talk) 18:23, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok, well maybe your right. The project is under the early stages and I see how Wikipedia needs more information on us first. Thats a deal. So you are a Myst fan? Have you played the last game yet? Anyways, once we get alot of sources, we will contact you back to have us be placed under the Myst movie project in Wikipedia. Thank you, Michael Nelson

I personally haven't played Myst, though I am a favor of puzzle games in general. Thank you for understanding, though, and I wish you good luck in your project. Veinor (talk to me) 21:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I've played all of them except for the final one, which I'll be doing here soon. TheWizardOfAhz (talk) 21:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Mr. Nelson, you have stated that you did not create this section of the talk page. If this is indeed what happened, I suggest you add some kind of disclaimer at the top, or strike it out, or just delete this whole section? That would save everyone a lot of trouble. --Gorobay (141.154.18.53 (talk) 21:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Username block

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because corporate usernames are generally not allowed; I decided to refrain from blocking until after the dispute was resolved..
This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Wikipedia under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, confusing, or misleading.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username which is quick and easy. To do so, please follow these directions:

  1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. Usernames that have already been taken are listed here. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username.
Last, the automated software systems that prevent vandalism may have been activated, which can cause new account creation to be blocked also. If you have not acted in a deliberately inappropriate manner, please let us know if this happens, and we will deactivate the block as soon as possible. You may also appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you. Veinor (talk to me) 21:45, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
