Nelson Villalobo Ferrer was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, on December 11, 1956. Since 1991 he has resided in Zaragoza, Spain. He develops the Painting, Drawing, Engraving, and Assemblege. In 1973 he studied in the Escuela Provincial de Arte, Santa Clara, Las Villas, Cuba. Between 1974-1978 in the Escuela Nacional de Arte, Havana, Cuba. And since 1979 to 1983 he studied in the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), Havana, Cuba.
From 1984 to 1986 he was Professor in the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba. Between 1984-1986 he was Professor. Escuela Provincial de Arte, Havana, Cuba. Since 1986 to 1991 he was Draftsman. Taller de Serigrafía Artística "René Portocarrero," Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, Havana, Cuba.

[edit] Individual exhibitions
He made many personal exhibitions among them we can quote "Paisaje" [Nelson Villalobo/Eduardo Ponjuán]. Galería L, Havana, Cuba, 1983. In 1989 he presented "Pintar y pintar bien (To Paint and to Paint Well)", Galerie Kaiman, Karlsruhe, Germany. In this year also exhibited "Maneras sin remordimientos". Galería Ponzano 16, Zaragoza, Spain. And in 1994 he presented "Peintures". Galerie Nesle, Paris, France.

He also formed part of many collective exhibitions like XIII Aniversario de la Escuela Nacional de Arte, Havana, Cuba, 1975. He was also included in "Jóvenes de hoy". Museo Estatal, Tokyo, Japan. Some of his images were selected to conform the XXIV (1985) and XXV (1986) Premi Internacional de Dibuix Joan Miró. Fundació Joan Miró, Centre d'Estudis d'Art Contemporani, Parc de Montjuic, Barcelona, Spain. In 1988 he participated in "Cuban Art in Boston". Massachusetts College of Art, Administration Building, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. And in 1991 he was included in "Grabado Contemporáneo Cubano". Cuarta Bienal de La Habana Havana Biennial Museo de Arte Colonial, Havana, Cuba.

During his life he has obtained many awards and recognitions, among them we can mention the Prize in Painting. 1er Salón Provincial de Artes Plásticas, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, 1983. In 1987 he obtained the Prize in Painting. I Bienal de Pintura Jaume Guasch, Spain. And in 1992 he gained the Painting Prize I Certamen de Pintura "Peña Solera Aragonesa," Bodegas Bordejé, Zaragoza, Spain.

In Spain his works can be found in important collections such as Arabal, S.G.R., Zaragoza; in Bodegas Bordejé, Zaragoza; in the Cámara de Comercio e Industria, Fundación Nueva Empresa, Zaragoza; in the Escuela de Arte, Zaragoza; and in the Instituto de Aragón de Fomento, Zaragoza. In Cuba can be found in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, and in the Museo Provincial, Cienfuegos, Cuba.
