Nelson's Dockyard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nelson's Dockyard is a tourist attraction near the town of English Harbour on the island of Antigua. It is part of Nelson's Dockyard National Park, which also contains the Clarence House and Shirley Heights.
The attraction is a restoration of the dockyard which was used by the Royal Navy during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a base of operations in the Caribbean Sea. Around ten restored buildings are there, along with ruined forts and historical artefacts. The name is given because Horatio Nelson was at one time commander of the dockyard.
