Nell Gwynne (1975)

Nell Gwynne was the "play" included within the Christmas edition of The Morecambe & Wise Show (1968) and featured Diana Rigg in the title role with Ernie Wise taking the part of Samuel Pepys (pronounced "pee-pees" on the programme; Eric Morecambe took the part of King Charles (complete with dog) whist Gordon Jackson took the part of the butler, parodying his own role in the popular costume drama Upstairs Downstairs which was airing at the time. The play closed typically with a rendition of "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Loved You When You Know I've Been a Liar All My Life".
