Original description:
Nelson station, Lancashire This station, once large and important, (there was a 10-road goods station attached) is now reduced to a single line carrying an hourly service from Preston and Burnley to Colne. But all is not lost - a new transport interchange is taking shape just outside, and a local society with the support of Members of Parliament from both sides of the House is campaigning for the restoration of the through railway to Skipton. If this were done, the East Lancashire corridor would begin to share the prosperity of Yorkshire's Aire Valley, where frequent electric trains are very well filled.
