My standards for becoming an admin
Hup Holland! My standards for voting support are few, and simple.
I am happy to help any and all sensible people become admins.
Here are the Ten Five Six Seven Commandments. Tremble before their commandmenty might!
- 1 - User must not be a monkey in real life.
- This may lead to cries of monkeyism. I admit it. I am anti-monkeyist.
- 2 - User must have at least 1000 edits.
- Why not use Kate's tool to confirm this is the case? It's not very high because there a plenty of people with huge edit counts who are far too incompetent / dangerous to be admins - it's not all about the count.
- 3 - User must not be an ass.
- Self-explanatory. And I mean ass both literally and metaphorically.
- 4 - User must not bite newbies.
- Slightly more serious. I hate newbie biting. Drives me crazy.
- 5 - I must have heard of the user.
- By no means does this mean people I have not heard of should not become admins. It just means I probably won't participate in your vote. But if I see someone on RFA who has done something particularly nasty, I may vote 'oppose' (after checking it out).
- 6 - No vote-pimping
- Usually I will check the talk pages of people who have already voted to support an RFA, to see if the nominee has asked them to vote. If they have, then I will vote 'oppose'. Let people make up their own minds. If I hear about it on IRC, ditto.
- 7 - No bad userboxes
- Whilst I personally believe Userboxes Are Evil And Must Be Stopped, having userboxes on your user page will in no way make me vote in opposition to your RfA. However, having any perjorative, divisive, or polemic userboxes will. With the quickness, and you better believe it. An administrator should have the good sense not to get dragged into such issues, or to associate themselves with them.
