Neil Everett Morfitt now known as Neil Everett, is a sportscaster for the ESPN cable network. He can be seen on the network's SportsCenter. During his tenure as a SportsCenter anchor, Everett has added Hawaiian surfing sayings to the show's famous repertoire of catchphrases. Also of note is his signature shouting of the words "Right now!" to open the show.
Born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Spokane, Washington, the University of Oregon alum and member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity started out at a radio station in Florence, Oregon, then went out of broadcasting for over 15 years working at Hawaii Pacific University as an athletic administrator. Before his ESPN debut, he worked as a sports director and reporter for KGMB, Honolulu, Hawaii's CBS affiliate. He often makes references to Hawaii when hosting the show, most notably when listing the time of an event, he will mention the time in Hawaii. Everett also makes numerous references to the Grateful Dead, such as "Tennessee, Tennessee, there ain't no place I'd rather be" when referring to the Volunteers sports teams--a line in the song "Tennessee Jed."
