Neil Carroll (director)

Neil Carroll (born 6 April 1971 in Liverpool) is an English film director, who directed For King and Country. He currently resides in Cronton, Cheshire.

  • He attended the Training Ship Indefatigable (a boarding school) in Llanfair PG, Wales.
  • In 1987, he joined the Royal Navy but left in 1988.
  • In 1989, he joined the Royal Marines, and served with '40 Commando RM'. He served in many places including Norway and Northern Iraq (1991) and left the Royal Marines in 1994.
  • 1994-1995: he attended Liverpool Community College studying 'A' Level Film & Media.
  • 1995-1998: he attended University of Linclonshire and Humberside in Hull studying for a degree in Communications.
  • 1998: employed by Mersey Television - now called Lime Pictures as Camera Assistant. He is now a staff Camera Operator for the British Channel 4 teen soap opera Hollyoaks, and has recently been operating in Living on the Edge (the English version of Laguna Beach) for MTV UK.
  • 2007, he made his debuts as director with the short movie For King and Country alongside with two Hollyoaks actors: Nick Pickard and Matt Littler.

After years working as camera assistant or camera operator, Neil Carroll did For King and Country as an exercise to Direct, and the Hollyoaks crew and actors (Nick Pickard and Matt Littler) wanted also to try other roles.
