Queen Nehellenia (女王ネヘレニア Joō Neherenia?), leader of the Dead Moon Circus and in the English version her name is spelled Nehelenia. She first appears in Episode 148 of the anime and appears in full in act 37 of the manga, though she appeared as a voice in a mirror starting in Act 35.

In the manga, she is the dark mirror image of Queen Serenity; the self-styled Queen of the dark center of the moon who first made herself known during the Silver Millennium. Queen Nehellenia arrived at the celebration of Princess Serenity's birth. Swirling with dark energy, she confronted the Queen, who used her wand, the Moon Stick, to seal Nehellenia inside a dark mirror world forever. As retaliation, Nehellenia cast a curse that the Moon Kingdom would fall and the princess would never inherit her throne. Her dark magic ultimately brought about the end of the Silver Millennium, but she lived on.
However, over one thousand years later, a solar eclipse allowed her to spread her curse to the earth by way of infectious nightmares aided by her minions, the Dead Moon Circus. Nehellenia claimed to be the true Queen of the Moon, that she was the rightful owner and heir of the illusory Silver Crystal and that the planet Earth belonged to her Moon Kingdom; therefore she set out to steal them, first by taking over the planet from within by way of corrupting Elysion with her darkness, and then by trying to take the Silver Crystal from Sailor Moon. After capturing Helios, her mirror was shattered and she fled to Elysion. There she confronted the Sailor Soldiers one last time, but the combination of Tuxedo Mask's newly unsealed Golden Crystal of the Earth together with the Mystical Silver Crystal, bound by the love of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask for one another, was too strong. Once defeated, Nehellenia shrivelled into a wizened old woman, and, after being sealed inside her mirror once more, vanished completely. In the manga it is revealed that she, like Queen Metallia, Wiseman and Pharaoh 90 is another incarnation of the final arch-villain, Chaos.

In the anime, Queen Nehellenia was the queen of an ancient kingdom on an asteroid. She believed her beauty was eternal, but her mirror showed her the form of her future self as an ugly old woman. Shocked and horrified by this, Nehellenia consumed the dreams of her servants and subjects to keep herself young. She watched with envy the prosperity of the Silver Millennium and Queen Serenity, and wanted to make the kingdom her own. As time passed, she learned about the power of the mysterious Golden Crystal, and with it she thought she could replace the queen of the Moon and possibly control the entire universe.
Nehellenia went to Elysion to get the Golden Crystal, but found that she also wanted to have the boy who guarded it, Helios. She tried to convince him to use the Golden Crystal with her to rule together, but Helios told her the crystal chose its own bearer, and only those with a beautiful dream could use it. When Nehellenia tried to get the crystal, it was protected by golden flames. Then Queen Serenity sealed her away into the darkness of the new moon.
From this dark place, Nehellenia commanded Zirconia and the rest of the Dead Moon Circus from behind her mirror. They captured Helios, but his true spirit took refuge in Chibiusa's beautiful dream, leaving the Dead Moon Circus searching for the owner of the dream in which he was hiding. Eventually, Nehellenia captured Sailor Chibi Moon and forced Helios to return to his body, then took the crystal by force and with its power freed herself from her seal. After a fight with the Sailor Senshi, her true form as an ugly old woman was revealed, and she was drawn back into her seal in the new moon.
Nehellenia was reawakened by Sailor Galaxia in Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, and tried to take revenge on Sailor Moon and the rest of her people. At Galaxia's urging, she shattered her own Dream Mirror, and the fragments fell to Earth, and the pieces that struck people infected them and brought them under her spell, while the loose shards became Mirror Paredri. One of those struck by a mirror shard was Mamoru, and Nehellenia kidnapped him and took him to her castle, challenging Sailor Moon to rescue him.
Sailor Moon went in search of Nehellenia's castle alone, pursued by her friends, and one by one the Sailor Senshi were captured and trapped in mirrors. However, Sailor Moon managed to free them and persuaded the dark queen to give up her anger, and she was sent back to her childhood to start over again.
[edit] Actresses
In the anime, Nehellenia has two different voice actresses: the adult, evil version voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara; and the good, reborn child version voiced by Wakana Yamazaki. In the dub version, the adult Queen Nehellenia was voiced by Canadian singer and songwriter Lisa Dalbello. The child Nehellenia has no dub voice, as she was only shown as a child during the undubbed Sailor Stars. In the musicals, Nehellenia was portrayed by Kaori Ishikawa.
