[edit] Unblock request

Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Konstable for the following reason (see our blocking policy): open proxy - Tor

Your IP address is 193.192.249.43. {{unblock|I have been blocked just because I use Tor?? I made a username so you can track me. Don't I have a right to an opinion? WP(and other sites) are censored where I am so I use Tor!}} I've been blocked, and no reason has been given! Ya I use Tor! Big deal, I made a username so you can track me. Explain yourself! NegativeNed 16:08, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reasons:

Collateral damage: You were hit with the autoblocker tool, which blocks users who use the underlying IP address that was blocked.

Request handled by: Deathphoenix ʕ 16:39, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi NegativeNed, when we block IP addresses using the default parameters, the usernames that also use these IP addresses get blocked as well. I changed the conditions of the block to only affect anonymous users so you should be able to edit now. If you still have any problems editing, please let us know. Sorry for the inconvenience, Deathphoenix ʕ 16:39, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

This user's request to have the autoblock on his/her IP address lifted has been DECLINED.

TOR exit node

  • Blocking admin: not provided.

  • Decline reason:

Sorry, but the Wikipedia:No open proxies policy states "Users are forbidden from editing Wikimedia projects through open or anonymous proxies". Konstable wasn't even meant to have unblocked your Tor exit node the last time you requested it. You're just going to have to play roulette with a Tor exit node change or use the https gateway instead if you want maintain your privacy. --  Netsnipe  ►  23:28, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Can't you make it so people with usernames aren't effected by IP bans? I made a username so you can track me even though I use tor. NegativeNed 22:59, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding TOR, IP Bans and collateral

I'm sorry that you became collateral to an IP ban, but sadly this cannot be helped. Open Proxy systems like TOR have been repeatedly abused by vandals who hide their real IP behind the proxy and thus attempt to avoid blocks by changing proxys - the blocked IP is almost always only the proxy IP. As to why IP bans also affect registered users - assuming that a vandal could avoid IP bans simply by logging into an registered user account IP bans would lose much of its power. Currently if a vandal is know to repeatedly switch accounts to avoid blocks, but operates from a static IP a ban is placed upon is so he is blocked automatically even when he switches accounts. Hope this explains a bit. CharonX/talk 12:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ummmm
