Magic in Negima Update
Ok guys, I'm running into a bit of trouble. In the last few chapters, a lot of information has been revealed about several characters, and I'm stuck on how exactly to update it... as such, I'm keeping it in here until I can get things in order, ok?
- 1. Evangeline at one time possessed all the weaknesses of a vampire. However, as she gained in power, she managed to discard them. In addition, someone else turned her into a vampire - however, she was able to retain her free will.
- 2. Misora's shown a magical artifact. While its name is unknown, they're essentially running shoes with a symbol of a wing on them, which enable her to run and jump insane distances. For the time being, I'm calling them 'Hermes's Shoes'.
- 3. Setsuna was banished from her own kind for having white wings, which were a sign of bad luck among her people. She was actually picked up by Eishun Konoe, when he left Nagi's group and headed back to Japan. The thing about Eva remarking on Setsuna dyeing her her hair and wearing contacts... Is true, but it's been unverified whether it's true or not.
...Ok, so that's not nearly as much as I thought it would be, but eh. Wakuseino 00:34, 3 October 2005 (UTC)
This wiki entry is getting long, although understandable for the cast section. Maybe the later very specific sections could get trimmed a bit? It seems more of a fanpage entry than a wiki article.
- It could certaintly use some tightening up. Glanicing through, the section most in need of a trim is the timeline section. There's also a fair amount of duplicated information, especially in the character section, which would make sense if the article were split up but currently is unneccessary. Student portraits
I would like to standardize the student portraits by taking scans from the official student register from the first chapter of manga. This would mean all of the portraits are in the same style and have the same size, and we would be able to add the missing portraits easily. The disadvantage is that they would all be in black-and-white. If anyone has any arguments, voice them here, otherwise I will do this when I gain access to a scanner. Andrew 08:36, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Many of the students changed significantly in appearance from the first chapter of the manga (ku fei, setsuna, makie, etc.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 169.233.26.169 (talk • contribs) .
Forgive me if i have no idea how to use this, but i found a class roster in color on google that could be divided into single portrates and used. http://img286.imageshack.us/img286/2905/classlist3vv.jpg
Suggestion
I suggest the character section should have it's own page & no the portraits for the students must be in colour. Try using the videogame portraits. MrTerrorist
- I have a matching set of pictures of all the girls (some of them have already been used) but they are all of the Anime character designs and many, myself included, prefer Akamatsu's original designs. Shiroi Hane 09:07, 22 October 2005 (UTC)
- I agree that the character section should be a seperate page, but I still think the b/w manga design would be preferable. It's Akamatsu Ken's work, it makes sense to use Akamatsu Ken's own drawings. Andrew 05:37, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
- I realised last night that I do have coloured versions of the mugshots from the register in the manga, although they are rather small. Shiroi Hane 12:29, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
- Where from? Andrew 04:47, 26 October 2005 (UTC)
- From this binder/folder thing.. don't know it's origin as I got it from Yahoo auctions. Scanned the relevant pages here - I'll do as clean a scan as I can of the individual character images and replace just the images in the article that I either previously uploaded myself or are missing. If we're in agreement then I can replace the others also. Shiroi Hane 20:29, 27 October 2005 (UTC)
- Looks like an artbook or fanbook, maybe this one: http://www.nippon-export.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=15570 I wish we knew for sure if it was official or not, but they are accurately colored character portraits from the manga. I say go for it. Andrew 04:36, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Shinso Vampire ?
Isn't it a reference to Tsukihime ? It has probably been already discussed to death, though, I imagine..
- It's a term used in Tsukihime, but that's not where it originates. To be honest I don't know the origins of the term and the internet was unhelpful last time I looked it up, but it's basically a fictional term used by the Japanese to refer to an uber vampire.
- Sierra from Suikoden II (and maybe others in the series), and Hazuki from Tsukuyomi are another two vampires that aren't harmed by daylight. There are probably other examples. As far as I can tell, it's just a way for authors to use vampires in their stories without having to keep them in the dark all of the time (that is, I don't think there's any mythological basis for the concept of a "true vampire" that isn't afraid of the sun). Andrew 09:02, 30 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hazuki is referred to as a "Day Walker" which is an extremely rare ability among vampires in that story. Evanageline also says that she originally had vampiric weaknesses. Shiroi Hane 08:32, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

- In the Japanese description, she was said to be High Daylight Walker next to the words Shinso Vampire. BTW, Shinso is not just often used in Japanese culture, it have 3 meanings:
- The one and only ancestor of all vampires, in the Novel Vampire Hunter D, it is Dracula. All vampire share shinso's blood.
- Vampires that became vampire by means other than being biten by other vampires. Evangeline and a character in Bastard!! falls into this category.
- Vapmires that are different from normal vampires in the human word, they are born to maintain the balance of nature. This is the definition from Tsukihime. Vampires in the human word uses 死徒 instead.(pronounced as Shito as a pun of 使徒 servant/messenger).
- Therefore, no matter what, the reference is not from Tsukihime where it got a totally different meaning. MythSearcher 07:13, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Going to add manga differene by Chuang yi
There were a lot of changes in the chuang yi version so i'm gonna write an article for it. And enjoy the trivia facts i added.MrTerrorist
Relationship POV prob
It seems like the Yuri/Yaoi shippers are trying to force their views on every else again *sigh* Could someone please correct the section to NPOV, please?
- I have no problem with mentioning the KonoSetsu relationship in the article, though I do think the way it is written now suggests some mutual attraction there when it seems to me that it's one sided on Setsuna's part with Konoka just being really friendly. Billdorr 00:14, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Mentioning the relationship isn't a problem, it just needs to be presented more neutrally, that's all.
- I fixed up a few things and made the article a bit more neutral than it actually was before. However, it still doesn't erase the fact that the whole section of this Negima page about Character Coupling will always be biased. Therefore, that section , as a whole, is recommended for deletion. 18 December 2005
- I wasn't keen on adding this without asking, so I should bring up that there's a great deal of circumstantial evidence to suggest Asuna and Negi might actually be related by blood, possibly brother and sister. I would say such a relationship seems more likely than a relation to Chao! We've undermined Negi's relationship to his "true" sister, and Asuna has very murky origins, not to mention a coincidental meeting with Nagi and her own considerable power. There's also somewhat of a resemblance between the two, even with Anime colouring as well as the covers of Del Ray translations. May I have consensual permission to add this speculative bit of information? Drake Christopher Dragon, 5 January 2006.
-
- I've not really paid much attention to the section as I really couldn't care what fans think of this or that relationship that may or may not actually be intended by the author, but the section is generally badly written, at least gramatically, and really needs a good proofing if it's going to be kept. Shiroi Hane 00:21, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- Wikipedia should be free of fan speculation altogether. Lost (TV series) sees dozens of edits per week to remove nearly baseless fan speculation on pretty much every aspect of the series. The rule there, as it should be here at Negima is that if it's not presented as canonical in the series, it should not be written on the wiki. --Billdorr 06:49, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- I agree, Wikipedia (not Wiki) should be entirely free of speculation, but since the network is free to edit for all users, people intrinsically imply speculatory remarks in the phrasing of paragraphs. Notable Anime articles, especially those of Naruto (manga) and One Piece are riddled with these, in addition to sloppy errors. Why do we not just elliminate the entire section for the Negima article right now? Maintinence will only get uglier (and more difficult) when FUNimation releases the Negima dub. Apparently, that's not too far off. Drake Christopher Dragon, 18 January 2006.

Trying to say that the whole article should be deleted due to speculation is nothing more than a canard for all intents and purposes; the idea here is to ensure that what has been clearly presented in the actual story is preserved, while ensuring that fan-based 'weaseling' be thoroughly excised.(Comment removed by author) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.205.163.17 (talk • contribs) .

- I think he meant removing just this disputed section, not the entire Negima article. I had the same misunderstanding until I read it a few times. I'm going to go ahead and remove the headings without any content under them, as they do little more than take space currently, irregardless if they have any legitimate value in being included. --Billdorr 02:46, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Infobox Order
I know the OVA is a prequel but I believe that the order of the animanga infoboxes is supposed to be in chronological order by creation date. That would make the OVA appear after the TV series on the infobox. If that's ok, then I'm going to change it - Squilibob 10:23, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
character description moved
Moved to List of Negima characters. BTW, the character list itself is 59kB in length, which is still way too long (wiki prefers 32kB or less articles). MythSearcher 15:35, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Experimental idea: Small class overview with links to the characters page to replace Negima#Characters User:Gameslinder/negima (it's too big isn't it?)
Timeline
Since the timeline has been removed twice now and is a sizeable chunk of text, I've created an archive including both version of the timeline for reference purposes. Shiroi Hane 01:26, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Fan Sites / forums / fanlistings
WP policy is to list no more than one fansite.. I have no personal objuections to more, but I don't see much point in listing all these free forums which make up to bulk of the links at the moment as there is no actual content. While I cannot find any policy for discussion on the matter, I cannot see any relevancy to fanlistings at all. Shiroi Hane 11:28, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I've tidied that up a bit. Are there any good general fansites (not forums) out there that aren't mere mirrors of info from wikipedia? Shiroi Hane 10:00, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
