Although this picture is subject to copyright, it is allowed for fair use because the use of a single cover "to illustrate an article discussing the book in question" is allowed. Specifically:

   * 1. it is a low resolution copy of a book cover;
   * 2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the book in any way; this version of the book is out of print
   * 3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the cover artwork on another book;

The article is used on a page about the book's editor. One of the main sections discusses how he created the line of encyclopedias (of which the image shows the first edition). Another section discusses his groundbreaking football research, much of which was published in this book.
