Needleye

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Needleye was a heavy metal band founded in 1999 by Duncan Wilkinson.

The name Needleye was originally given to Duncan's solo studio project in 1998, but due to high demand to play live, Needleye became a band which enjoyed much success over many years. Duncan also produced remixes under the name Needleye for many artists including Leech Woman, The Aggression, Chemlab, Interlock, Bent USA, The Shizit, The Sepia and Dope Stars Inc.

After several line-up changes and a shift from industrial-metal to more mainstream metal, Needleye recorded their first full-length album "Ode To None" in 2006 at Metropolis Studios with engineer Rohan Onraet.

Needleye called it a day in January 2007 with the following statement:

"The End Of Needleye.

And so it came to pass that the Needleye Beast would be put to sleep. Needleye was formed through a desire to create an unrelenting assault on the senses, to push the boundaries and deliver head-crushing metal to the masses. Not wanting to water-down the music or dilute the passion that drove the band, we have all decided that Needleye has reached its logical conclusion.

Needleye was always a strong band and as such we want it to have a strong ending. The new tracks that we have just finished in the studio have been put up as a testament to the cause and as a thank you to all those that have served under Needleye and helped us along the way.

To all the members past and present, to all of you that tore shit up at the gigs, to all the bands we have played with, to all the blown PA's, broken stages and all those that ever believed in us - we salute you."

Duncan Wilkinson has since gone on to front 12 Ton Method.
