An interesting side note to this story is to follow the career track of three of the major executives for the UltraLite. After leaving NEC, Tom Martin eventually worked as a marketing vice president at Dell during their hyper-growth years. Jim Bartlett, the product management director, eventually led the product marketing group for IBM's highly successful ThinkPad family. Paul Sereiko stayed with NEC through the release of its most successful product the NEC UltraLite Versa, and then played instrumental roles in companies that standardized the credit card sized PC Card for notebook computer expansion, developed the emerging market for indoor real-time location systems (RTLS), and helped define the new market of wireless mesh sensor networks as founding CEO of Sensicast Systems, Inc.
