Nebraska (song)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Nebraska" is a song recorded by Bruce Springsteen. It was the opening song on his 1982 album of the same name.
The song was inspired by Terrence Malick's film Badlands, a fictionalized interpretation of the spree killer Charles Starkweather. Many of the details in the song, such as the song's first two lines, "I saw her standing on her front lawn/ just a twirling her baton", are drawn from the film.
The song does not adhere entirely to the Starkweather killings; for instance, Starkweather killed eleven people, while the song states that ten people died.
