Vandelay's first effort was a home-studio recorded four-song EP, Hard Rock Candy Sandwich under the band name, GWA, independently-released in February 2003.

Vandelay completed an EP with different musicians in early 2007, entitled Chapped Laps, recorded by Robin Hood Brians (ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan) with Grammy Award-winning producer Ken Lewis (Fall Out Boy, Soul Asylum, Beastie Boys, Lenny Kravitz) creating the final mix. Chapped Laps features artwork from Josh Clancy (Panic at the Disco, Hawthorne Heights).
