[edit] Concept

In 1987 two vampire movies were released: “The Lost Boys” and “Near Dark.” While “The Lost Boys” went on to a very substantial commercial success, the critically-superior film “Near Dark” bombed out of the theaters, but developed a very vocal cult following on home video. In part of Warner Brother’s new ‘Independent Label’ a modestly budgeted $5 million remake has been commissioned headed by Ryan Zeller (“One Tree Hill” & “The Hills Have Eyes”) in his directorial début.

[edit] Plot

Very little is known about the plot and it is still unclear how faithful the remake will be to the original’s plot. What is known is that the central focus will be on three teenagers in a family of vampires traveling route 66 in the late 1980s.

[edit] Filming

The initially filming for the movie took place during the summer of 2007. Almost all, if not in fact all the scenes film at that time have been scraped in favor of the new script. It is known though that the underlying plot of the entire film itself is the groups mutual agreement to drink bob saget alive until death only to reancarnate him as zombie/vampire slave.
