Nea Peramos (Kavala), Greece

Coordinates: 40°50′20″N, 24°18′13″E Nea Peramos (Greek: Νέα Πέραμος), is town located 18 kilometers from Kavala, the capital of the prefecture of Kavala, Greece. Its population as of the 2001 census is 2,468.[1]

Since 1998, according the Low of Kapodistrias, seven villages (Nea Peramos, Nea Irakleitsa, Agios Andreas, Eleythere, Elaioxori, Myrtofyto, Folea) joined in a municipality which is called Municipality of Eleytheres. The central administration authority residences in Nea Peramos, which is the largest of the villages listed above. The first Mayor of the Community of Eleytheres was Iraklis Karaberidis. Due to its privileged situation the village Nea Peramos represents also a good starting point for excursions to the island of Thassos which is 1 hour from Nea Peramos by ferry, to the city of Kavala and 30 km from the ancient Filippi.

There are many destinations worth to be visited as along the coastal road with idyllic, partially even during the main season nearly unfrequented bays and beaches.

If the weather is clear, the view reaches from the Thassos island up to the mountains of Athos at the peninsula Chalcidice.
