Ndamba

The Ndamba are an ethnic and linguistic group based in south-central Tanzania. Population 55,000 (1987). Region South central, Iringa Region, northeast of Bena, southeast of Hehe, west of Pogolo, southwest of Mbunga. Dialects Lexical similarity 69% with Mbunga, 56% with Pogolo. Classification Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Narrow Bantu, Central, G, Pogoro (G.50) Language use Speakers also use Swahili.
The tribe based on Mlimba, Msagati, Chisano, Chita and other part of Kilombero area, the ndamba tribe was derived from Pogoro, its was a small group started by their own chief and spread in southern part of Morogoro Region, The Ndamba tribe also known as Wandamba, are well know by eating Rice and Fish only, they can eat rice for 365 days in a year withou changing, most of them are belonging to Roman Catholic and they are after religious. In 1987 the Ndendeule population was estimated to number 79,000 [1].
