National Cycle Route 9 runs from Belfast to Dublin.

The NCR 9 is a planned cycle route from Belfast to Dublin.

[edit] Belfast to Ballyshannon

The route currently runs from Belfast Central station (where it connects with route NCR 93) along the River Lagan to the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn, where it continues as the senic Lagan Way, across Northern Ireland, finally ending in Ballyshannon in the Republic of Ireland.

The Belfast to Lisburn is a slow and winding route comprised of a path that is not suitable for road bikes as the surface is of varying quality made of tarmac or gravel. It does make an ideal cycle for young and old, and since bicycles can be taken on trains running on the adjacent railway line, you can choose the length of your route easily.
