NBA Summer League

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Basketball Association Summer League (also called the Vegas Summer League to differentiate it from the other pro summer leagues) is a basketball league run by the NBA in the United States just following the NBA Draft. Teams consist of players who have been in the league for 3 years or less as well as newly drafted talent.

The 2007 edition of the NBA Summer League is being run at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 6th to the 15th. The 2007 edition features the top 2 picks in the 2007 NBA Draft, Kevin Durant of the Seattle SuperSonics and Greg Oden of the Portland Trail Blazers. The 2007 edition of the League features 21 NBA teams as well as the China national basketball team. [1] The league's rules are generally the same as the rules of the National Basketball Association except for a liberal foul out rule which allows 10 fouls (instead of the NBA's 6). [2]

The league is one of several summer pro leagues in the United States, which include the Pepsi Pro Summer League (run by the Orlando Magic) [3] and the Rocky Mountain Revue (run by the Utah Jazz) [4].
