Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai is a Pashtoon nationalist leader, with supporters in the Pashtoon areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He is the descendant of the Pashtoon Nawab, i.e., Nawab Bangul Khan Jogezai, who was killed during resistance against the British[citation needed]. He is tribal chief of Kakar and its sub tribe Jogezai[citation needed]. He belongs to Killa Siafullah, once known as the “home of rebels”[citation needed].
Whereas Torghar mountain was the stronghold of the resistance against the British rulers, the area having witnessed the great tumult during the civil war and remained home to the warrior and tribal chief Bangul Khan of the Jogezai tribe[citation needed].
He is also the convener of 'Pakhtoon Ulasi Qaumi Jirga (Pashtoon National Council)[citation needed]. The Jirga was held in March 1998 attended by Majority of tribal elders throughout West and North Pakhtoonkhwa[citation needed]. He is also the leader of Pakhtoon Khwa Milli Awami Party[citation needed].
Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai is Senator in the Upper House of the Parliament of Pakistan[citation needed]. He has won elections as Member of the National Assembly (MNA) against Maulana Muhammad Sherani, head of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-Fazalur Rehman group) Balochsitan.[citation needed]
His political career has included work for the removal of oppression of Pakhtoons/Pashtoons[citation needed]. Recently, he played a part in the political unity of two major Pakhtoon/Pashtoon parties, i.e. Awami National Party and Pashtoon Khwa Mili Awami Party[citation needed]. He contributed to the Peace Jirga commissioned by ANP, in Peshawar in its effort to assemble top leadership of the Pashtuns, to talk peace and work together for bringing unity and stability to Pakistani tribal areas and neighbouring Afghanistan[citation needed].
He also participated in Peace Jirga, commissioned by President Hamid Karzai[citation needed]. In Kabul, Asfand Yar Wali Khan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai and Hamid Karzai, Afghan President had series of meetings for Pakhtoon unity[citation needed].
