Talk:Naval Aviation Observer (Navigation) Badge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page was moved to reflect the correct name of this insignia; it was originally named Naval Navigation Observer Badge but the correct name of the badge, as per Appendix 20 to United States Naval Aviation 1910–1995 published by the Naval Historical Center, is Naval Aviation Observer (Navigation) Badge. It is worth noting that in Naval and Marine Corps publications the term "badge" is not used for insignia of this type; both service consistantly use the term "breast insignia" in their respective uniform regulations, and consistantly refer to wings and warfare specialty devices as "insignia". - The only person I ever knew who actually had this badge told me that the World War II Navy guys called it the "Navy Navigator Badge". That was most likley an unoffical name. I think we should find out what it was actually referred to, since I image the full title with paraenthsis was not used when talking about it in an unoffical sense. -Husnock 20Feb05.
