The US Navy maintains a public relations office in Hollywood with the intent to assist the film industry in making movies involving the Navy and Marine Corps. This office also maintains close relations and contacts in the entertainment industry with the goal of telling the military's story and controlling any film and television messages relevant to the military.
The Office also asks film and television producers to consider doing projects that they feel need to be shown to broadcast the military's message to the general population. They engage in different forms of propaganda, counterintelligence and Militainment.[citation needed]
