Navin Nischol is a popular Indian actor. He made his debut with the Hindi film Sawan Bhadon in 1970. The film was a box office hit and Nischol was constantly in demand for several years. He was also the first gold medalist from the Film and Television Institute of India to make it big. He starred in several superhits, such as Victoria No. 203(1972) and Dhund(1973). At one time, he was popularly known as the "poor man's Rajesh Khanna" - an allusion to his being an inferior copy of the much-more-in-demand Rajesh Khanna. Later on, Nischol switched over to character roles and carved out a successful career for himself in television. One of his most successful serials on television was Dekh Bhai Dekh (Come on, have a look), co-starring Shekhar Suman and Farida Jalal.

Navin was first married to Dev Anand's niece, Neelu Kapur, sister of Shekhar Kapur. After Neelu found out that Navin was having an affair with starlet Padmini Kapila, she divorced him, and turned to Christianity. shortly after that Padmini started having an affair with director Prakash Mehra, and broke up with Navin.

Navin then had an affair with Pimma, a Delhi-based married woman with two children. Navin lived in the Nibhana Building in Pali Hill, Bandra, Bombay (also housing actors like Moushumi Chatterjee, Anil Dhawan, Vinod Mehra). After Pimma found out that her daughter had a bad marriage, she left Navin and went back to Delhi to be with her husband and children.

Navin then married divorcee Geetanjali. In May 2006 Geetanjali killed herself, blaming Navin and his brother, Pravin, for her death. Navin and Pravin were both arrested and cases are pending against them.

On April 24, 2006, his wife committed suicide by hanging at her residence. His wife has blamed him for the suicide.[1]
