Talk:National and University Library Zagreb

[edit] A comment on establishment date

Sources say NSK was established in 1607. I've left it at that, but I think it's highly dubious. NSK traces its roots back to the Jesuits' library, which was formed in 1607. However, that library was what it was: library of the Jesuit order, and in no way, shape or form a "national" library. My guess that this is done in order to artificially make NSK look older than it actually is. GregorB (talk) 20:01, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

A correction here: Jesuits' library was not a national library, but it is now considered (perhaps retroactively) a university library, since the Zagreb University stems from the Jesuit Academy. So yes, in a way, what is today known as NSK was really established in 1607. GregorB (talk) 21:09, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
