[edit] Old talk
This organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been in existance for many years. It is a noncomercial organization organized to promote the art form of dance. No one in the organization porfits from it, as it is not a business.
The organization would be akin to any "(blank) week organization, such as in "Family History Week" http://www.familyhistoryweek.org.au/ .
- Hello! The reason that I flagged the article is because it appears to exist to promote the organization. Non-profits can still be promoted, indeed, prominent non-profits receive advertising all the time! There's also no indication why the organization is notable, as no secondary sources are cited. If you do know of some secondary sourcing which has written about this organization, I can help you in sourcing that and cleaning up the ad tone. Seraphimblade 03:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your positive imput. I will do more research and will add to the article accordingly. The organization did recieve a presidential proclamation a few years back, and has activities in most states. I realize I have more homework to do. Thank you, again.Keizai 08:22, 9 February 2007 (UTC)keizai
- Since you've got some claim to notability on it, I've removed the request for speedy deletion. The article will need secondary sourcing of that, but I would imagine it received some coverage when the proclamation took place. Seraphimblade 08:29, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Here is an article I found from looksmart: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1083/is_4_76/ai_84545842 Thank youKeizai 08:33, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Here is the link to the presidential proclamation: http://www.nationaldanceweek.org/n_pcom.htm I will get more supporting information and add more encyclopedia-worthy information to the article.Keizai 08:37, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Here is a link to the Bay Area National Dance Week that refers to the main organization and its impact http://bacndw.org/about.php Keizai 09:17, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Those will work very well! I've done some work to the article, and those seem to establish notability. Thanks for providing them! Seraphimblade 09:48, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Thank you so much. I am new--very new--to Wikipedia, and I want to be respectful of all the protocols. I look forward to learning more so I can be a more valuable contributor.Keizai 17:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability
Notability is demonstrated by the references and external links. Also, "National Dance Week" gets 40,000+ google hits. I'm removing the notability tag. Puddlduk 19:27, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disgusting
being a dedicated dancer, I cannot help but express my disgust with the NDW organization. It claims to promote dance, but in fact its prime yet undeclared goal is to promote dance merchandise. Just take a look at the website:the top links in the list are sell/sell/sell/sell. "Nonrpofit organization", my ass. No wonder they cannot get their 503 status for over 10 years and say not a single word about their corporate structure. `'mikka 18:05, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
