The Nature Protection and Tourism Club (Romanian: Clubul pentru Protecţia Naturii şi Turism) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization from Braşov, Romania, involved in environmental protection and ecological tourism activities, but also mountain related sports like mountaineering, rock climbing, orienteering or speleology.

[edit] Abstract

CPNT has been active since 1973 and at this time it has 100 volunteer members, mainly students of Transilvania University of Braşov. They are active members of the association and get involved in ecological activities and also in mountaineering activities (such as competitions, camps).

The organization is trying to focus on promoting public involvement, free access to environment related information and promoting a sustainable development.

The most recent activities have been concentrated around the ecological education of the citizens of Braşov. They also organize mountaineering schools, climbing courses or camps for repairing damaged mountain trails.

CPNT concentrates in attracting and involving young Romanians (especially students from Transilvania University) in activities implying environmental protection and pollution prevention. They are also engaged in attracting and involving students in mountaineering related activities.

  • Attracting and getting involved the target grup of the association (mainly students from Transilvania University of Braşov)
  • Informing their members about the environmental problems the local authorities confrunt;
  • Ecological and tourism based projects;
  • Training the members;
  • Organising national mountaineering competitions;
  • Collaborating with the authorities in order to solve the most stringent environmental issues.

  • March 16th – 26th: "2007 Winter School" – A.N.T. Hăşmaş Mountains;
  • March-May: Campaign "2% Protect the environment, be one of the two!";
  • April 22nd: Earth Day – ecological play, photography exhibition , hygienisation of "Pietrele lui Solomon", informing campaign; [1]
  • May 11th – 13th: Participation – mountaineering contest "TURIST" Amara 2007 organizer Fundaţia de Turism şi Ecologie a Dunării de Jos "Ciulinii Bărăganului";
  • June 29th – July 1st: Second place prize at "Vânturariţa Cup 2007" organized by Clubul de Turism Alpin Vânturariţa, Buila-Vanturariţa National Park;
  • July 10th -17th: Participation ANSIT "Summer school" - " Project and programme management";
  • July 13th – 15th: Second place prize at the 6th edition of "Braşov Trophy" Piatra Mare;
  • August 13th – 19th: First place prize at the 8th edition Trophy Mont-Delt-Mar Challenge;
  • August 24-26: Second place prize at Trofeul "Ursul Carpatin" organizer Caraiman Câmpina, location - Poiana Ţapului;
  • September 21st – 23rd: Fifth place prize at "Carpathian Trophy A.T.E. Carpatia".
  • October 2nd-5th: Recruitment campaign - "Transilvania" University
