Natura Cosméticos S/A is one of the Brazilian leading manufacturers and marketers of skin care, solar filters, cosmetics, perfume and hair care products.
The company was founded in 1969 and became a public company, listed on Bolsa de Valores de Sao Paulo, in 2004.
Natura, which is 100% Brazilian owned, is the second largest company by sales in the cosmetics and toiletries industry in Brazil after Unilever.
In 1974, Natura adopted a similar business model to Avon depending heavily on direct sales. Natura, with over 450,000 "consultants" there and another 30,000+ spread throughout Argentina, Chile and Peru, now surpasses Avon's sales in Brazil.
Natura focuses on its image as an eco-friendly company (using natural products, working toward sustainable environment and social support etc). The company also prides itself on strong research and development activity.
