Natun Asom Gana Parishad ('New Assamese People's Association') was a political party in the Indian state of Assam. NAGP was formed through a split of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). NAGP was led by Bhrigu Phukan, who had been state Home Minister of AGP 1985-1990.[1] Phukan had been one of the principal leaders of the violent agitations of All Assam Students Union in the early 1980's.
NAGP voiced separatist demands more clearly than AGP.[1]
In 1994 NAGP merged with AGP. Phukan, was expelled from AGP in 1997.
