Native Diver Handicap

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Native Diver Handicap is an American Grade III stakes race for Thoroughbred race horses run in early December at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. Set at a distance of 9 furlongs (one and one eighth mile] it’s open to horses three-years-old and up and offers a purse of $100,000 added.

Begun in 1978, the Native Diver is in its 30th running in 2008.

The race is named for one of the great sprinters and certainly one of California’s most beloved horses, Native Diver, who ranks no. 60 in Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 U.S. Racehorses of the 20th Century.
