The National Theatre in Brno (Czech: Národní divadlo v Brně) is the major theatre house in Brno. It was established in 1884 by model of the National Theatre in Prague.

Nowadays it consists of three stages:

  • Mahen Theatre (drama) - originally German-language Theatre On the Walls (construction finished in 1882), the first theatre building on the Continent with electric lighting (projected by Thomas Alva Edison himself)
  • Janáček Theatre (opera, ballet) - modern building from 1961-1965
