National Stadium (East Timor)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

National Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Dili, East Timor. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 5,000, but has never hosted an international match.

A tournament held between Timorese national teams, a UN Police team and Australian and New Zealand combined teams was conducted in May 2007.

Playing football in Timor Leste is difficult because temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius and the pitch at the stadium is rock solid, with dry grass on it and a lot of patches where it is just pure stones.
