National Space Science Data Center

The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) is a department in NASA's Solar System Exploration Division. It was created to archive NASA space science mission data. The NSSDC is located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The NSSDC provides free access to NASA data for the public and researchers. The data provided is both raw scientific data as well as images.

The NSSDC maintains the International Designator for every spacecraft launched and every satellite in orbit, worldwide. This information along with background information to the satellites is available in the searchable public Master Catalog.
