The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (NSCSA) was established in 1979 and is one of the largest providers of maritime services in the Middle East. The company and its subsidiaries purchase, charter and operate vessels for the transportation of crude oil, chemicals and general cargo. For this purpose NSCSA owns and operates a fleet of double hull very large crude carriers (VLCCs), chemical carriers and multipurpose Ro-Ro vessels. NSCSA holds a 30.3% stake in the Bermuda-based liquefied petroleum gas trading and ship-owning company, Petredec Limited.[1]
Formed by a Royal Decree in 1979 as a Public Company with 28% of its ownership held by the Public Investment Fund of the Saudi government and the balance of ownership in public shares. NSCSA paid-up capital is 2 billion Saudi Riyals with 40 million shares issued.
