From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The museum is housed in a beautiful building of the Railway Station. The last 13 years is exhibited a rich collection of railway material from past times:rare photographing material, suits, old telegraphs, machinery for issuing tickets of the 19th century made of wood and bronze, tools, watches, timetables, parts of train machinery, traffic lights as well as primitive measurement instruments. There are also archival material, rare books concerning railway architecture from the 19th century and historic documents. However the most astonishing tresure are the unique plans of Evaristo De Chirico for the construction of the Volos-Ano Lechonia-Milies railroad (Pilion Train).

Near the railway station will soon operate an open air Railway Museum. It will be created with the cooperation of University of Thessaly. It will include old carriages, train machines and wagons of the 19th century as well as the wagon of the Royal family of Greece.
