National Radio Orchestra of Romania

The National Radio Orchestra of Romania is the most prestigious symphony orchestra in Romania.

Based in Bucharest, it was funded in 1928 by Mihail Jora. After Mihail Jora, great conductors were in charge of the orchestra (in chronological order): Alfred Alessandrescu, Theodor Rogalski, Ionel Perlea, Constantin Silvestri, Iosif Conta.

Other permanent conductors of the National Radio Orchestra were Emanuel Elenescu, Mendi Rodan, Paul Popescu, Horia Andreescu, and the orchestra also had as guest conductors great musical personalities such as Ion Baciu, Ovidiu Balan, Erich Bergel, Constantin Bugeanu, Gheorghe Costin, George Enescu, I. Ionescu Galati, Cristian Mandeal, Emil Simon and others.

The current principal conductor is Horia Andreescu.
