National Police of Peru

The National Police of Peru (Spanish: Policía Nacional del Perú) is the national police force in Peru with 140,000 troops. It was founded in 1988. Prior to 1988, there were several national police forces in Peru, including the Investigative Police of Peru, the Civil Guard, and the Republican Guard. There are several divisions in charge of different specialties like for example DINOES (Especial Operations), DINANDRO (Anti-Drugs Unit), DININCRI (Anti-Crime), DIRCOTE (Anti-Terrorism), etc. Policia Nacional del Peru is in charge of Law Enforment within the borders of Peru covering the area of the entire territory (1,285,220 km²).
