National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems

The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) is an inventory of U.S. aviation infrastructure assets. It is developed and maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Its purposes are:

to identify all the airports in the U.S. that are considered significant components of the national aviation infrastructure network;
to qualify the current state of development, technology, and repair at each of these airports;
to estimate the funding needed to bring each airport up to current standards of design, technology, and capacity.^[1]

Airports in the NPIAS are eligible for Federal grants from the Airport Improvement Program.^[1]
