National Mission on Power Electronics Technology

NaMPET is a national mission programme launched in November 2004 by the Department of Information Technology(DIT) under Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. This five year programme is implemented through the Nodal Centre at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Thiruvananthapuram. Premier Academic Institutions in the country, Manufacturing Industries and User Industries of Power Electronics Systems participate in this programme. A National Steering Committee comprising of eminent experts from different agencies and institutions in India guides the activities of NaMPET.

[edit] Nodal Centre
A Nodal Centre for this programme is established at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Trivandrum, embedded in the Power Electronics Group of the Centre. Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Thiruvananthapuram (C-DAC(T)), (formerly ER&DCI), is a Centre of Excellence in Electronics and Information Technology under C-DAC, Pune, a Scientific Society of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India. The Centre undertakes Application-oriented Research, Design and Development in Electronics so as to generate state-of-the-art, producible, marketable and field maintainable products and systems. The technology themes of the centre are Power Electronics, Control & Instrumentation, Hardware Design, Broadcast & Communication, Strategic Electronics, and Software Development and Training. The Power Electronics Group has wide experience of developing successful PE products/ systems and a very good industry interaction by way of transfer of technologies, field implementations etc. It has very close association with reputed Academic Institutions like IISc and IITs.
