The National Intelligence Organization, or Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı (MİT) in Turkish, is the governmental intelligence organization of Turkey. It was established in 1965 to replace its predecessor "Milli Emniyet Hizmeti (MAH)". The first director of MİT was Avni Kantan, who served between July 14, 1965 through March 2, 1966. Current head of the organization is Undersecretary Emre Taner since June 15, 2005. Following is a list of Chiefs of the MIT, the governmental intelligence agency of Turkey, Milli İstihbarat Teşkilatı (National Intelligence Organization).
