National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) is the non-partisan organization whose foundation was sponsored by the Council of State Governments (CSG) and the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) to unite the growing number of Hispanic legislators elected throughout the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the United States' territories.
Currently headed by Republican Delaware Representative Joseph MirĂ³, day-to-day operations are supervised by Executive Director Elizabeth Burgos out of the organization's Washington, DC headquarters.
The Caucus currently partners with CSG, NCSL, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta and private corporations to sponsor seminars for legislators on current public health issues, such as childhood obesity, diabetes, sickle cell anemia and the uninsured.
