National Hero of Armenia

National Hero of Armenia (Armenian: Հայաստանի ազգային հերոս, EA: Hayastani azgayin heros) is the highest title in the Republic of Armenia. The law on the title has been in effect since April 22, 1994. The highest title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to the Republic of Armenia in defense and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values. Those who are awarded the title also receive an Order of Fatherland. The first recipient of the title was Vazgen I.[1] Later on, the title was awarded to Viktor Hambardzumyan. On May 28, 2004, Charles Aznavour and Kirk Kerkorian also received the title.[2][3]
