National Harbor is a 300-acre new urbanist mixed use waterfront development being built by the Peterson Companies on the shores of the Potomac River in Prince George's County, Maryland. The project is expected to cost more than $2.1 billion. In addition to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, which opened on April 1, 2008, National Harbor will contain five new hotels, waterfront condos, offices, retail stores, nightspots, a marina, and a new location for the National Children's Museum.

National harbor will feature the Summer Concert Series among other outdoor activities. [13]

National Harbor has direct road access from the Capital Beltway, I-295, and Maryland Route 414 (Oxon Hill Road). Commuters traveling by way of Maryland Route 210 (Indian Head Highway) may access National Harbor by utilizing the Oxon Hill Road exits.

A water taxi line run by the Potomac Riverboat Company[15] connects it to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport; Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, George Washington's home at Mount Vernon, Nationals Park[16] at Navy Yard/Near Southeast, and Georgetown's Washington Harbour.[17]

WMATA Metrobus route NH-1 operates to the National Harbor development via the Southern Avenue Metrorail station, Indian Head Highway,. and Oxon Hill Road daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.[18] Buses run every 20 minutes during rush hours and every 30 minutes during non rush hours and the weekends. Maryland is paying an estimated $1.2 million annually for Metro to operate the new service.
